Catoctin Backpacking Trip

March 7-8, 2020

This was it, the backpacking trip we had planned for! The reason that we did our preparation hike in February! The culmination of our planning!

We had 7 scouts attend, and we went to Catoctin State Park, to the Adirondack Shelters, which you can see in the top part of this map.

It was a little cold and windy, but according to our fearless leader, “We hit all our major objectives – getting there in daylight, cooking, hanging a bear bag, “surviving” the night using appropriate cold weather camping techniques, and then cooking, packing up, and hiking back.  The group did well with navigation and with supporting each other. “
