September Hiking Campout

For our September Campout, we camped at Rohrbach Campground near Antietam National Battlefield. We hiked along the Appalachian Trail up towards South Mountain, with the Washington Monument as our destination. We started off on Reno Monument Road, hiking up 3 miles to the Monument, and had lunch before we headed back down. We later explored the anniversary events of the Battle of Antietam, with different live demonstrations and reenactments. We saw live cannons, and some scouts worked on their Junior Ranger badge. Some scouts went the previous week to help arrange for the anniversary celebrations by helping with cleanup and beautification efforts.
